The Law Firm of Rossway Swan launches its annual holiday season of giving on Thursday, December 4 from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. as they host the yearly “Soup Bowl” located at its office in the Modern One Building, 2101 Indian River Boulevard, Suite 200 in Vero Beach. The “Soup Bowl,” which benefits the Samaritan Center for Homeless Families, is a 22 year tradition for the Center, and for Rossway Swan, it marks the 6th year they have hosted the event. The “Soup Bowl” embodies the spirit of giving as individuals forego the lunchtime meal they might normally enjoy and instead partake of a hearty meal of soup and bread for the cost of a $5.00 donation to the Samaritan Center. The interfaith non-profit organization offers long-term transitional housing and guidance for homeless families of Indian River County and prepares them to live independently.

Rossway Swan welcomes the community for a delicious lunch, featuring a variety of soups for $5.00 a bowl all homemade by employees of the firm and volunteers from the local community. Included in the price are finger sandwiches, drinks and desserts, as well as breads. There will also be an assortment of handmade pottery bowls made by local artists available for sale for $15.00 each.

While continuing to reach out to the community during the holiday season, Rossway Swan  decorates a “Giving Tree” to benefit a local charity. This year, the Firm has chosen the adult residents at the Homeless Family Center (HFC) to be one of their recipients. The firm is also including a local family in their holiday giving this year.  Paxton Maguire, the two year old daughter of Niki and George Maguire, is afflicted with Cystic Fibrosis, a genetic disorder that affects the digestive system and lungs.  The Firm invites employees and visitors to participate in their holiday giving effort by selecting a tag from the tree which identifies a holiday wish for the adult residents of the HFC and the children of the Maguire family.  Gifts are returned to the Firm and will then be distributed to the HFC and the Maguire family.

Founded in 1991, HFC provides opportunities for homeless families to end homelessness by achieving self-sufficiency through education, living wages, and permanent housing.  Located at 720 4th Street, HFC provides housing to 21 families at any given time and serves over 87,000 meals per year.

The Maguire’s toddler, Paxton, is in need of an AFFLO Vest worn to provide treatment of the disease.  The medical expenses associated with the vest and Paxton’s treatment have created a tremendous financial burden on the family. Donations will be accepted to help defer the expenses not covered by insurance and other funding alternatives and provide relief to the family during the holiday season.

In addition, Rossway Swan will once again support the Sebastian River High School Choir’s fundraiser by purchasing poinsettia plants from the choir to decorate their offices in make-ready fashion for the “Soup Bowl” and throughout the season.

Rossway Swan is located in the professional Modern One building at 2101 Indian River Boulevard, Suite 200 in Vero Beach and they maintain a second office in Coral Gables.
