In an effort to address the pressing need for accessible legal services, the United Way of Indian River County, in collaboration with the Clerk of Court, local judges, court administration, and county government, has launched two Jeffrey R. Smith Access to Justice Self Help Centers.

Located at the IRC Courthouse and United Against Poverty, these centers are designed to serve as a vital link between residents’ legal needs and the intricacies of the legal system.

The Access to Justice Self Help Centers are geared towards assisting selfrepresented parties in family law, small claims, or residential eviction cases. Equipped with user-friendly, confidential legal kiosks, low-cost attorney consultations via Zoom, and guidance in navigating local procedures, the centers are uniquely tailored to facilitate access to the legal system for self-represented parties, both through technology and in-person assistance. Operating hours at the Indian River County Courthouse and United Against Poverty provide flexibility for visitors, ensuring accessibility to those in need.
